Catholic Life at St Edmund's
Catholic life at St Edmund’s Catholic Secondary School is at the heart of everything the we do, creating a community where every student is valued, supported and encouraged to flourish. Our recent CSI report highlights the school as an authentic expression of Gospel values, characterised by love, inclusion, dignity and service. Students actively embrace the school’s Catholic mission through prayer, liturgy, chaplaincy, charitable outreach and a strong commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, particularly through service to the local community.
Inspectors praised the school’s exceptional pastoral care, welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of belonging, noting that students feel safe, respected and loved. Staff, governors and student leaders work together to ensure that faith is lived out daily, creating a vibrant Catholic community where spiritual, personal and academic growth are nurtured and celebrated.
To educate is an act of love, it is to give life. And love is demanding, it calls for the best resources, for a reawakening of the passion to begin this path patiently with young people. The educator in Catholic schools must be, first and foremost, competent and qualified but, at the same time, someone who is rich in humanity and capable of being with young people in a style of pedagogy that helps promote their human and spiritual growth.

November 2025 - We are grateful to the Jerusalem Trust for their generous grant of £440, which enabled the purchase of new Bibles for our school community. These Bibles will support students in their spiritual development, enrich prayer and worship, and deepen engagement with Scripture as an integral part of Catholic life at St Edmund’s Catholic Secondary School.
