SEN Department

Mr Robinson SENco

Mr Robinson started teaching in 1998 in Deal. Initially he was Head of RE and during this time he worked with a number of different musicians and artists to produce a CD of music which caught the attention of Terry Hall from The Specials and Damon Albarn from Blur. Mr Robinson then worked in Canterbury where he organised cultural and musical events for over 3000 people within the local area. As Head of 6 Form and as an Assistant Principal, Mr Robinson worked with a number of different schools across Kent including Tonbridge School and Folkestone Grammar School for Girls. In 2012 Mr Robinson became a SENco and worked with a number of advisors and academic in the Ashford area of Kent before finally becoming a Head of College at an Alternative Provision in London working with young people who had either been excluded from mainstream education or had struggled to engage with a mainstream curriculum. This involved working with 14 London Boroughs as both SENco and as Head of College. After leaving London and returning to Kent,  Mr Robinson worked in and around South London with different schools and PRU's in an advisory and publishing capacity before accepting the role as SENco at St Edmund's Catholic School in Dover. Mr Robinson has over 25 years of experience within education and has also worked with well-known academics and writers across different fields of expertise and has also published materials on the Roma in Kent, and has also worked on a range of projects linked to art, music and performance.  He believes that all educators have a duty to liberate and to remove barriers to learning by offering life affirming and life changing experiences to the young people they work with, enabling them to have access to the cultural capital that they need to experience success and enhanced social mobility and fulfillment.

What should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?

If you think your child may have a Special Educational Need and wish to discuss this or any other element of provision for students with special needs, please make contact.

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Mr Robinson, is the best person to contact.  The SENCO has responsibility for what happens on a day-to-day basis at St Edmund’s for pupils with a Special Educational Need - he provides professional advice to other teachers in school to help ensure all pupils make progress.
