We are delighted to announce that the Catholic Union has selected our school as their School of the Week.
Each week, the Catholic Union celebrates the outstanding contribution that Catholic schools across England, Scotland, and Wales make to our society. Being chosen for this recognition highlights the commitment, dedication, and spirit of our entire school community.
This honour reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff, and families, who continually strive to live out our values, support one another, and create an environment where every child can flourish academically, spiritually, and personally. We are proud to be acknowledged for the positive difference our school makes both within our community and beyond.
Oscar Romero Award
We are proud to have been awarded the Oscar Romero Award (Participation Level) in May 2026.
The Oscar Romero Award is a national recognition programme for Catholic schools, designed to support us in living out our mission by putting faith into action. It is inspired by the life and witness of St Oscar Romero, who courageously stood for justice, dignity, and the preferential option for the poor.
What is the Award?
The award provides a framework to help schools embed Catholic Social Teaching (CST) across all aspects of school life. It encourages both pupils and staff to:
- Reflect deeply on their faith
- Act for justice and the common good
- Show service and solidarity with others
Schools progress through four levels:
Participation → Developing → Embedded → Exemplary
Our Achievement: Participation Level
The Participation Level marks the beginning of our journey with the award. At this stage, we are:
- Introducing the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching
- Identifying where these values are already present in our school
- Encouraging pupil awareness through activities such as charity work, liturgy, and curriculum links
- Gathering evidence of how we are beginning to live out these values in practice
What This Means for Our School
Achieving the Participation Level reflects our commitment to growing as a community rooted in faith, justice, and service. It represents an important first step in embedding Catholic Social Teaching more deeply across our school and in the lives of our pupils.
We look forward to continuing this journey as we strive to follow the example of St Oscar Romero in responding to the needs of others with compassion, courage, and faith.
